Privacy Policy — Todos — Filter Coffee Way

Summary

Todos does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. Everything you type or capture — notes, checkboxes, notebooks, and the source of any captured highlight — is stored using Chrome's own storage APIs, on your device and, if you're signed in to Chrome, synced by Google across your own devices. Filter Coffee Way never receives a copy, runs no server that Todos talks to, and has no analytics or tracking code in the extension.

What Todos stores, and where

Todos keeps the following, entirely through chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync:

Note content you type or capture, including checkbox state, nesting, and notebook assignment.
Source information for a captured highlight, link, or image — the page URL, page title, the captured text, a link to the favicon Chrome already has cached, and a text fragment used to scroll back to the highlight later.
Preferences, such as your theme choice (light/dark) and default capture notebook.

chrome.storage.local is the source of truth and never leaves your device. chrome.storage.sync is Google's own extension-sync mechanism — the same one Chrome uses to sync your bookmarks and settings — and is governed by your Google Account's own privacy controls, not by Filter Coffee Way. Uninstalling Todos removes its local data; synced data is cleared the same way any other extension's synced storage is, through Chrome.

storage

Lets Todos save your notes locally and sync them via Chrome, as described above.

activeTab

Granted only for the instant you click the toolbar icon or press the keyboard shortcut. Used to read your current text selection on that one tab, so it can be saved as a note. No access outside that click, and no other tabs are touched.

scripting

Runs a small, one-off script in the active tab at the moment of a capture (toolbar click, shortcut, or right-click "Save to Todos") to read the selected text or the clicked link/image. No content script runs persistently on any page.

contextMenus

Adds the "Save to Todos" right-click menu item for selected text, links, and images, built only from your own local notebook list.

favicon

Shows the source site's icon next to a captured note by reading Chrome's own local favicon cache — no network request is made to the site.

Third parties

Todos does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not send data to Filter Coffee Way or any other third party. The only external party involved in storing your data is Google, through the standard chrome.storage.sync mechanism built into Chrome itself — the same channel used for browser bookmarks and settings.

Your control over your data

You can delete any note or notebook directly in Todos at any time. Removing the extension deletes its local data; synced data is removed the same way as for any other extension, via your Google Account's Chrome sync settings. Todos also supports exporting your notes as Markdown or JSON before you remove anything.

Children's privacy

Todos is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age — it collects nothing at all, as described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
